Lunatic Monday Mounce on Great commission

Bill Mounce continues the blatantly wrong idea that participles carry the imperative mood when accompanied by a main clause verb in the imperative. There are several problem with that 1. An imperative is shorter than a participle, so if a writer was trying to imply an imperative mood it wood have been simpler to use the imperative verb 2. St Jerome translates it into Latin using a present active participle where the Greek has an aorist active. This is due to Latin not having a past active participle but only a perfect passive participle and generally Latin uses sum with participles so the present active is used.
3. The apostles don’t immediately obey Jesus and go but wait for Pentecost. Mounce is declaring them to be disobedient!
4. When we do a literal word for word translation into Lithuanian we get the following:
išeinę taip, sudrausminkive visus pagonius krikštantys juos Tėvo ir Sūnaus ir Šventašios Dvašios vardan.
For which the Google translation is
having gone forth, discipline all the Gentiles, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Mounce and others like him are overly complicating participles which act as adjectives or in absolute phrases as adverbial phrases expressing when, where, with what unless other particles or conjunctions modify the phrase.

Translation of Matthew Chapters 1-3

Gospel of Matthew

Jesus Generational Record

1:1 Abraham's son's, David's son's, Christ Jesus's generational paper.
1:2 Abraham did father Isaac; however, Isaac did father Jacob; however, Jacob did father Judah and his brothers.
1:3 However, Judas did father Perez and Zarah by Tamar; however, Perez did father Hezron; however, Hezron did father Ram.
1:4 However, Ram did father Amminadab; however, Aminadab did father Nahshon; however, Nahshon did father Salmon.
1:5 However, Salmon did father Boaz by Rahab;  however, Boaz did father Obed by Ruth; however, Obed did father Jesse.
1:6 However, Jesse did father King David.  However, David2 did father Salomon by her of Uriah.
1:7 However, Salomon did father Rehoboam.  However, Rehoboam However did father Abija.  However, Abija did father Asa.
1:8 However, Asa did father Jehoshaphat; however, Jehoshaphat did father Joram; however, Joram did father Uzziah.
1:9 However, Uzziah did father Jotham; however, Jotham did father Ahaz; however, Ahaz did father Hezekiah.
1:10 However, Hezekiah did father Manassah; however, Manassah did father Amon; however, Amon did father Josiah.
1:11 However, Josiah did father Jechoniah and his brothers by the Babylonian deportation.
1:12 However after the Babylonian deportation, however, Jechoniah did father Salathiel.  However, Salathiel did father Zerubbabel.
1:13 However, Zerubbabel did father Abiud.  However, Abuid did father Eliakim;  however, Eliakim did father Azor.
1:14 However, Azor did father Zadok.  However, Zadok did father Achim.   However, Achim did father Eliud.
1:15 However, Eliud did father Eleazer.  However, Eleazer did father Mathan.  However, Mathan did father Jacob.
1:16 However, Jacob did father Joseph, Mary's husband, from whom has been born Jesus, being called Christ.
1:17 Therefore, all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David to the Babylonian deportation are fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian deportation to the Christ are fourteen generations.
1:18 However, Christ Jesus's generation thus was: at His mother’s, Mary’s time of betrothal to Joseph, before they might conjoin, He was detected being in the womb from the Holy Spirit.
1:19 Joseph, her man, However being righteous, and not intended to embarrass her, hoped in secret to split from her.
1:20 However, after he thought that, see, the Lord's angel did appear to him in a dream saying, “Joseph, son of David, fear not to take Mary your wife, for in her is He begotten of the Holy Spirit.”
1:21 She will bring forth, however, a son, and will call his name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
1:22 However, this all arose in order that the prophecy be fulfilled under the Lord by the prophet's saying:
1:23 See, the virgin will have in the womb and will bear a son and will call his name Emmanuel which is being interpreted “God with us.”
1:24 However, Joseph, being awaken from having slept, did what the Lord's angel enjoined on him and received his wife.
1:25 And did not know her until she had delivered her firstborn son and called his name Jesus.

King Herod's Reaction

2:1 However, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, see, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem.
2:2 They say, "Where is the king of Judea born? We saw his star in the east, and appeared to worship him. "
2:3 Having heard, however, King Herod was shaken, and all Jerusalem with him.
2:4 And collecting all the chief priests and scribes of people, he inquired of them where the Christ may be born.
2:5 they however, told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, as the prophet had written:
2:6 And you, the Judean land, Bethlehem, in any way, not least with the rulers of Judah, for from you shall come forth the future king, who shall rule my people, Israel.
2:7 At that time Herod after secretly calling the Maji, exacted from them the time of the star's appearance:
2:8 And having sent them to Bethlehem did say, "leave, explore in detail about the baby whenever you get it However, let me know, so having come even I may worship him."
2:9 However, after hearing from the king, they left, you see, and the star, which they saw in the east was leading them, is seen until after it came being set over where the baby is.
2:10 However, when they saw the star, they rejoiced in a very great jubilation.
2:11 And when they came to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they having prostrated, did adore Him, and having opened their treasures, they offered Him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
2:12 and warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went another route to their land.
2:13 They having returned, however, see, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "awakened, take the child and his mother and escape into Egypt and be there until I tell you, because Herod seeks the Baby to kill Him."
2:14 However, being awakened, he did take the little baby and his mother by night and withdrew into Egypt:
2:15 And was there until Herod's expiry so that the oracle would be fulfilled according to the Lord by the prophet saying: “out of Egypt I called my Son“
2:16 Then Herod having seen that he was being despised by the magi, has been made very angry and having sent forth, he did away with all the baby boys in Bethlehem and in all its bounds from two years and down according to that time exacted by the Magi.
2:17 It was then fulfilled according to the oracle of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
2:18 "A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and heartbroken and sad a lot, Rachel crying for her children and is not willing to be comforted , as they are absent."
2:19 However after Herod died, see, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
2:20 saying, after being woken, take the child and His mother and go to Isreal's land for they have died who seek the child's life.
2:21 After being woken, however, he did take the child and His mother and came into Isreal's land.
2:22 Having heard that Archelaus reigns over Judaea after his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, warned, however, in a dream, he went to the Galilean part.
2:23 And having gone, he lived in the town called Nazareth, so the oracle might be fulfilled by the prophet, that He would be called Nazarene.

John the Baptist

3:1 However in those days, John the Baptist comes out, preaching in the Judean desert.
3:2 and saying, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven comes near”
3:3 For that is spoken by the prophet Isaiah, telling them "a voice cries in the desert 'get ready for the Lord's way, make his paths straight'"
3:5 However, John himself has his camel hair coat, and a leather belt around his waist, but his food was locusts and wild honeycomb.
3:5 Then Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole periphery of the Jordan were going out to him
3:6 and they were baptized in the Jordan by him, confessing their sins
3:7 After seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come for his baptism, he said to them, "snakes' offsprings, who told you to flee from the imminent wrath?"
3:8 Make so fruits worthy of repentance!
3:9 And you might consider not to say "We have Abraham for our father," because God is able of these stones to give rise to children of Abraham.
3:10 Already, however,  the ax is adapted to all the tree roots and the roots not producing good fruit are cut down and cast into a fire
3:11 I truly baptize you with water for repentance, but He coming after me is mightier than me, whose sandals, I am not fit to carry, He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.
3:12 Whose winnow in His hand will clean His threshing floor and gather into the granary, His grain, but the chaff, He will burn in inextinguishable fire
3:13 Then, comes Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John, to be baptized by him.
3:14 But John forbade him, saying, I have a need to be baptized of Thee, and Thou didst come to me
3:15 Answering, however, Jesus speaks to him, "Let now, as it is appropriate for us to be completed for all justice." Then he let it.
3:16 Being baptized, however, Jesus rose straight out of the water and see, the heavens opened for Him and he saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove, and entering Him
3:17 And see, a voice from heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom, I delight.”

Literal English:
O Lord, we are those whom may Thy grace go before and support and also continually show to be eager for good works.
Literal Lithuanian:
Mes esame, kuriuos, Viešpati, visados ir teeina priešakyje ir tepalaiko bei terodo nuolatinai Tavo malonė esti trokštąs gerams darbams.

Polishing it slightly:
Make it more direct by dropping the main clause "we are those whom" replacing it with "us" and change the last clause "to be eager" to a dative clause (i.e. that should have been a dative absolute in Latin) in the secondary clause:
O Lord, let Thy grace precede and support and even show continually us being eager for good works.
Viešpati, tegu visados Tavo malonė ir eina priekyje ir palaiko bei rodo mus, kad mūsų buti trokštantius tolydžio gerams darbams.

WDTPRS Comments on Eucharistic prayer

1973 ICEL English:
When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you and drink from it: this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.

WDTPRS English:
After the supper was concluded, in a similar way taking into His holy and venerable hands also this noble chalice, in like manner giving thanks to You He blessed and He gave it to His disciples, saying: All of you receive and drink from this: for this is the chalice of my Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out abundantly on your behalf and on the behalf of multitudes for the remission of sins. Do this for my remembrance.

JMR 2009 Literal Lithuanian:

JMR 2009 Literal English:
In the same way, after having supper, and taking the splendid chalice with His holy and venerable hands, likewise He has blessed it giving thanks to Thee, and He has given it to His disciples, saying: "Everyone take and drink from it: this is truely the new and eternal covenant's chalice of My blood, [faith's sacrament] which for you and for many people will be shed for sins' forgiveness. Do this in My commemoration."

Note: Lithuanian visas = omnis = all/everyone (plural). visi is masc., pl., nom./voc.
daugis = multis = multitude, many (daugybė = multitude, great number)
sakramentas = mysterium = sacrament, (Eccl.) mystery

Note: Translation from IE languages to English (i.e. Latin, Lithuanian, Greek, etc.)
when a genitive appears in the original preferred order of translation is:
(1) English possessive enclitic (aka English genitive) formed by using apostrophe and "s" ("'s" or "s'") i.e. Susan's house, students' books, his tie, her dress, its fur coat, their package, my notes, thy smile, ye ears, our paper.
(2) English adjective possessive form i.e. law => legal, nose => nasal, convenant => covenantal
(3) English preposition form using "of"
I am really annoyed by translaters who use "of" frequently as that tends to add definite articles that aren't in the original

Note effundetur doesn't include "abundantly", you've lost points for lack of slavish translation, see Whitaker's Words:
effundetur V 3 1 FUT PASSIVE IND 3 S
effundo, effundere, effudi, effusus V TRANS [XXXAO]
