1:11 However, Josiah did father Jechoniah and his brothers by the

|
1:17
Therefore, all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen
generations, and from David to the Babylonian deportation are
fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian deportation to the
Christ are fourteen generations.
|
1:18 However, Christ Jesus's generation thus was: at His mother’s,
Mary’s time of betrothal to Joseph, before they might conjoin,
He was detected being in the womb from the Holy Spirit.
|
1:19
Joseph, her man, However being righteous, and not intended to
embarrass
her,
hoped in secret to split from her.
|
1:20 However, after he thought that, see, the Lord's angel did
appear to him in a dream saying, “Joseph, son of David, fear not
to take Mary your wife, for in her is He begotten of the Holy
Spirit.”
|
1:21 She will bring forth, however, a son, and will call his name
Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
|
1:22 However, this all arose in order that the prophecy be
fulfilled under the Lord by the prophet's saying:
|
1:23
See, the virgin will have in the womb and will bear a son and will
call his name Emmanuel which is being interpreted “God with us.”
|
1:24 However, Joseph, being awaken from having slept, did what the
Lord's angel enjoined on him and received his wife.
|
1:25 And did not know her until she had delivered her firstborn
son and called his name Jesus.
King Herod's Reaction |
2:1
However, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod
the king, see, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem.
|
2:2
They say, "Where is the king of Judea born? We saw his star
in the east, and appeared to worship him. "
|
2:3 Having heard, however, King Herod was shaken, and all Jerusalem
with him.
|
2:4
And collecting all the chief priests and scribes of people, he
inquired of them where the Christ may be born.
|
2:5
they however, told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, as the
prophet had written:
|
2:6
And you, the Judean land, Bethlehem, in any way, not least with
the rulers of Judah, for from you shall come forth the future
king, who shall rule my people, Israel.
|
2:7
At that time Herod after secretly calling the Maji, exacted from
them the time of the star's appearance:
|
2:8
And having sent them to Bethlehem did say, "leave, explore in
detail about the baby whenever you get it However, let me know, so
having come even I may worship him."
|
2:9
However, after hearing from the king, they left, you see, and the
star, which they saw in the east was leading them, is seen until
after it came being set over where the baby is.
|
2:10
However, when they saw the star, they rejoiced in a very great
jubilation.
|
2:11
And when they came to the house, they saw the child with his
mother Mary, and they having prostrated, did adore Him, and having
opened their treasures, they offered Him gifts of gold and
frankincense and myrrh.
|
2:12
and warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went another
route to their land.
|
2:13
They having returned, however, see, an angel of the Lord appeared
to Joseph in a dream, saying, "awakened, take the child and
his mother and escape into Egypt and be there until I tell you,
because Herod seeks the Baby to kill Him."
|
2:14
However, being awakened, he did take the little baby and his
mother by night and withdrew into Egypt:
|
2:15
And was there until Herod's expiry so that the oracle would be
fulfilled according to the Lord by the prophet saying: “out of
Egypt I called my Son“
|
2:16
Then Herod having seen that he was being despised by the magi, has
been made very angry and having sent forth, he did away with all
the baby boys in Bethlehem and in all its bounds from two years
and down according to that time exacted by the Magi.
|
2:17
It was then fulfilled according to the oracle of the prophet
Jeremiah, saying,
|
2:18
"A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and heartbroken and sad
a lot, Rachel crying for her children and is not willing to be
comforted , as they are absent."
|
2:19
However after Herod died, see, an angel of the Lord appeared in a
dream to Joseph in Egypt,
|
2:20
saying, after being woken, take the child and His mother and go to
Isreal's land for they have died who seek the child's life.
|
2:21
After being woken, however, he did take the child and His mother
and came into Isreal's land.
|
2:22 Having heard that Archelaus reigns over Judaea after his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, warned, however, in a dream, he went to the Galilean part.
|
2:23 And having gone, he lived in the town called Nazareth, so the oracle might be fulfilled by the prophet, that He would be called Nazarene.
John the Baptist |
3:1
However in those days, John the Baptist comes out, preaching in
the Judean desert.
|
3:2
and saying, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven comes near”
|
3:3
For that is spoken by the prophet Isaiah, telling them
"a voice cries in the desert 'get ready for the
Lord's way, make his paths straight'"
|
3:5
However, John himself has his camel hair coat, and a leather belt
around his waist, but his food was locusts and wild honeycomb.
|
3:5
Then Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole periphery of the Jordan
were going out to him
|
3:6
and they were baptized in the Jordan by him,
confessing their sins
|
3:7
After seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come for his
baptism, he said to them, "snakes' offsprings, who told you
to flee from the imminent wrath?"
|
3:8
Make so fruits worthy of repentance!
|
3:9
And you might consider not to say "We have Abraham for our
father," because God is able of these stones to give
rise to children of Abraham.
|
3:10
Already, however, the ax is adapted to all the tree
roots and the roots not producing good fruit are cut down and cast
into a fire
|
3:11
I truly baptize you with water for repentance, but He coming after
me is mightier than me, whose sandals, I am not fit to carry, He
will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.
|
3:12
Whose winnow in His hand will clean His threshing floor and gather
into the granary, His grain, but the chaff, He will burn in
inextinguishable fire
|
3:13
Then, comes Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John, to be
baptized by him.
|
3:14
But John forbade him, saying, I have a need to be baptized of Thee, and Thou didst come to me
|
3:15
Answering, however, Jesus speaks to him, "Let now, as it is appropriate for us to be completed for all justice."
Then he let it.
|
3:16
Being baptized, however, Jesus rose straight out of the
water and see, the heavens opened for Him and he saw the Spirit of
God coming down like a dove, and entering Him
|
3:17
And see, a voice from heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, in
whom, I delight.”
